Why is Aloe good for horses?
Aloe vera is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and is often used to help humans maintain healthy skin and gut health. In the same way, Aloe can also be used to help horses with a wide range of ailments. Its soothing properties make it effective in treating skin irritation caused by allergies, chafing or minor burns. Horses can also ingest Aloe to aid digestion. With a large amount of digestible fibre, it helps to reduce irritation in the stomach and can protect the digestive tract. It’s also often administered to help with equine ulcers.

How much Aloe should I give my horse?
The volume of Aloe for horses will vary depending on the size of the animal, but we recommend between 100 – 150ml per day.

How do I give my horse Aloe?
Aloe vera most commonly comes in a juice or gel form, making it easy to swallow. However, not all horses will respond well to the fairly strong taste. We therefore recommend mixing it with your horse’s daily feed, so that the taste is masked by their usual food.

What are the side effects of Aloe for horses?
Aloe is a natural plant, and therefore safe for horses. It is also mild enough that it can be used regularly without any side effects. However, we do not recommend for mares that are pregnant or lactating.
