What are the benefits of fenugreek for horses?
Fenugreek is a traditional herb often used in cooking, and is associated with a number of human health benefits including lowering cholesterol and controlling blood sugars. Many equine owners have found there are also benefits of fenugreek seeds for horses, primarily in helping to maintain a healthy digestive system. It can also be beneficial in helping with appetite, particularly in horses or mares who are normally fussy eaters and need to gain weight. Finally, fenugreek is thought to support healthy milk supply in pregnant mares.
How do I feed fenugreek seed to my horse?
Our fenugreek seed can easily be added to your horse’s feed, as most horses find it a palatable addition to their diets. Splitting the amount over two meals can be a good idea for animals who are known to be fussy eaters.

We recommend adding 5 grams for every 100 kilograms of body weight to your animal’s feed.
Are there any side effects of fenugreek for horses?
While some owners have reported gas in horses who have consumed too much fenugreek, there are no known side effects for taking the herb in moderation. However, it is not recommended for pregnant or lactating mares.
