What is Your Responsibility?
It is your responsibility as the Rider, Driver or Vaulter to ensure Clean Sport is upheld. If you are a member of an equestrian sporting discipline (BD, BE, BS, Para Equestrian Dressage, Driving, Para Driving, Endurance, Reining, Vaulting, BRC) and are eligible to participate, you can expect that your horse may be tested.

How and When Are Horses Tested?
Horses are tested by the BEF at National level and the FEI at International level competitions. A blood sample is always taken during the test and a urine sample where possible.

What Happens if My Horse Tests Positive?

If your horse tests positive you could receive a fine, other associated costs, disqualification, loss of medals/winnings/ qualification and a loss of integrity.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Always use a registered feed business operator (FBO). This will be stated on the label and will ensure that the company have met the required levels of hygiene and traceability.
Always check the labels of feeds and supplements for any ingredients that are not suitable for competition.
Check that the product has a batch number, expiry date and that the container is properly sealed in a tamper evident way.
Store feed and supplements in a secure container away from possible contamination from rodents and spillages.
Use separate stirrers when mixing multiple feeds.
Keep coffee, tea and chocolate (caffeine and cocoa – theobromine) away from the feed room.

The CleanSport+ logo guarantees that not only testing for the presence of Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) have been carried out but that in addition, Herbal Spice and Plant Contamination (HSPS) testing has been undertaken for extra peace of mind.
